“A blaze of colour, music and love!”
Black Orpheus (Orfeu Negro) is a romantic drama released in 1959, directed by Marcel Camus and produced by Dispat Films.
Set during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, it retells the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a vibrant modern setting. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards and also the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, starring Breno Mello and Marpessa Dawn.

Very good condition.  The poster has a dramatic style with a central image of a man carrying a woman, creating a romantic and theatrical focal point. The flowing fabric and pose give it a sense of movement and emotion.
Compared to many other international posters, which often use photographic stills, this version is more stylised and artistic. The dark background with bursts of bright colour makes the figures stand out, giving them a bold, expressive and almost dreamlike appeal.
